As for H's Uncle, well it isn't my place to give many details even though I do have a much more clear understanding of what's happening there. I'll just say he's recovering from emergency surgery and leave it at that.
Moving on, it is nasty outside. I'm writing this at 10:30 at night. I just trekked back from my parents house. I seriously thought of staying there over night because it was so bad outside. To get back here, I had to walk in the plowed streets as the sidewalks are impassable with snow.
We got a lot more than the foot of snow they were warning us about. With the high wind and small size of the snow flakes it's drifting like crazy and ... well, as I said, nasty outside. In the part of my parents yard where I always have the largest drift to shovel through it was above my hips, I'd guess 3 and half feet of snow there.
After I finished shoveling my parents I went inside to warm up before coming back here. In the 15 minutes or so I was warming up, there was another good inch or two that had fallen.
This is easily the heaviest snow fall in the last few years. I keep getting flashbacks of the blizzard we had in the late 1990s. That was when I was so stressed out I wound up in the hospital in a coma for a week or so (ok, there's more to the story, but that'll do for the short version).
I haven't shoveled my own home, and I'm not going to tonight. I just heard on the radio that thanks to the good old lake effect snow I'll be getting 3 more inches over night. At least the forecast gave me some hope. It said on Monday the temp. will be going up to 34 degrees. So we should have some meltage then.
