Tip of the Hat

(no subject)

I'm writing this on my old apple. That boot problem I had with my new Windoze computer came back, and my workaround didn't work this time. After calling the tech support line, they told me I needed to replace the HD.

Bah. Tonight I think I'll try contacting a member of the old swingdance group who a few years back had a small computer repair service that went by the wayside and see if he'll look at it.

Well, I just convinced myself that Compaq was wrong about my needing a new HD. I booted up my old Mac (as I said in my last entry), and googled my error message after my post from my Mac.

Based on my google search, I tweaked this computer's bios a little. Apparently the error message I get is from the computer trying to boot from the wrong device. So I move the HD up to be the first thing it looks to boot from and completely disabled it looking for a network to boot from.

Well, for now anyway, that seems to have worked.
