For some reason I had the song "Rock'n'Roll Lullabye" stuck in my head today to the point I had to find and play the CD that has that song. I got more emotional then I should have when I heard it.
"... but whenever I would cry she'd calm my fears and dry my tears with that rock'n'roll lullabye and she'd sing Sha la la la la la la la la It will be alright ...
"...when momma would sing her song Now I can't recall the words at all And it don't make sense to try 'Cause I just fell lots of love came through That old rock'n'roll Lullabye ..."

When I was over at my parent's house one of the younger cats was getting into trouble and I used the old family scolding, "shamotze!" (I'm sure I'm butchering the spelling badly). Other than that's always been a scolding word and my family uses it like the English equivalent of "shame on you!" I don't really know much about the word. It just surprised me how automatically it came out of my mouth when that cat was getting into trouble.

Also, it's amazing how talking to the right person can lift ones mood. Even if my phone call interrupted her with a few sewing friends. |
