Nite Mirror
I just finished talking to my city's building commissioner. Apparently, he'll be happy with my throwing on a fresh coat of paint over the front porch and, if I could, the windows on the south side of he house too when H comes up here.

He also told me that there might be some city grant money available that if I file the paperwork before I buy anything. He said the city hasn't announced that grant yet, and he's not sure exactly when that grant starts, but I should check with City Hall and maybe I can apply for it to help with the costs.

Apparently the city will have a home repair grant for any home owner doing their own work and cover half the cost of repairs on the outside of buildings facing a city street, since I'm on a corner that would cover two sides of my house.

I was stressing out over making this call, but as it always goes, it's never as bad as my imagination makes things I fear out to be.

I also was planning on doing some writing. My time is shorter than I would like for that today. Ah, I can at least make a word budget. I'm going to enter a contest and need a 5,000 word minimum story written in the next month or so. I just reread the contest rules. I need at least one sex scene in it but no homosexual or heavy BDSM scenes (whatever heavy means) and a minimum of 5,000 words (closer to 10,000 preferred) as per the rules. The first prize is getting a contract with a publisher. Sounds like a good prize to me.

Ok, word budget -- 30 days for 5000 to 10000 words? Um, let's see 167 to 334 words per day? That's doable.

Hmm, not sure what else to say, and I'm just fretting away time now, so I guess it's time I moved on to other things.

Hope your weather is a beautiful as it is here right now. Later, y'all

update: ya know it helps to turn my DSL modem on if I want to connect to the internet and post this entry? Don't know how the thing got shut off in the first place.
