This is the second time in my memory that a player from a team the Cubs were scheduled to play died the night before. You just don't think professional athletes will die while they are still playing their game. Horrible.
Closer to home, and far less tragic, ... Ok, not tragic at all, I've been doing a bit of the home repair thing on both my house and Mom's. Last year Mom had ceiling fans put in almost every room in her house. Well, the standard chain for turning on the fan is too short for Mom to reach, I spent a few minutes yesterday lengthening the chain. I deliberately over estimated how much of that ball chain stuff I'd need to ensure I had enough. So now I've got about maybe 2 and a half feet extra to play with (prob should, and prob. eventually will just pitch the extra chain).
Today's plan is fixing up my one stair railing. I bought a bunch of nails yesterday too, and right after I type this I'm going to try renailing the one railing that's loose. We'll see how many fingers I don't break with the hammer while I do this. When it comes to home repair, I didn't inherent Dad's talent.
Ok, I need a sip of the coffee I left on the far side of this room. So time to get the coffee, let Fawn out so she can run around the back yard while I'm working on the front steps, and then go pound some nails (and a minimum of fingers).
