Nite Mirror
Ok, update time. I have been melting in this heat wave. I couldn't believe it the other night when I looked at an indoor/outdoor thermometer I have and it was 81 degrees at *midnight* outside!

I have the Cubs game on the radio as I'm typing this. I don't know why. While they are leading in the game right now most of this year has been an embarrassment for them.

I was planning on calling H tonight just to touch base with her. I got back from supper and found she left me a message saying she was going up to the cabin for the 4th and might spend the weekend up there too. So it looks like I won't be able to talk with her till next week some time.

Hmm, it seems there were several other things I wanted to mention. Now what were they? What? You don't know either? Why not?

Hmm, oh, I found a little notice on my porch today about grants and loans the city is offering it's citizens for home improvements. They really want to make this town a tourist trap, and have been encouraging home owners to make their houses look nice. Well, I may take them up on it. I've needed new windows for this place, but haven't been able to afford them. Not to mention new siding. Hmm, somehow I doubt they'd cover a central air unit even the siding would be iffy.

The carnival is in town. I'd forgotten until a mass of humanity started going by my home at 10:30 last night. It took me a few minutes to figure out that. I guess I should expect the parade nightly until the carnival leaves on the 6th.

Maybe I'll walk down there one of these nights. I usually do go to listen to the band they have playing in the beer garden, but this year when I looked at the scheduled bands none of them interested me.

Hmm, oh! I also had yemQo'yaD visiting KLI's newly reopened MUSH. I have only been studying tlhIngan Hol for about a year now. I couldn't follow the conversations they were having there. By the time I pieced together what someone said 3 other people had replied and I was hopeless behind in the conversation. It was good just seeing others using the language fluently though. Gives me a goal to shoot for.

I also got the first of the amazon.com books I bought for myself. I tore through Destroyer # 125 in 2 days (yeah I'm a few books behind in that series). Remo finally took over from Chiun and became the Reining Master of Sinanju in that book. It ought be interesting with Remo no longer Chiun's apprentice in the future books. The next step will be Remo taking an apprentice. I heard that happens in one of the books I haven't read yet (#126 - #128 are bought, I just haven't received them yet).

Sounds like you are having a heat wave like ours. Unbelievable, four days of upper nineties. The pool water went up to 84 yesterday. When it gets that warm all you can say it that it is wet.
