Nite Mirror
I have my ... I was going to say morning coffee, but someone changed all the clocks to slightly after noon. T'aint morning anymore when the big and little hands of the clock meet at the top of the dial while the sun's up.

It's one of those days where I'm having trouble motivating myself to move and do things. I have a slight headache that almost feels like a mild hangover. Too bad I didn't touch any alcohol last night. At the moment, my supply is just 3 beers that I'm saving until I really want them or know I can buy more of the good stuff (had my fill of cheaper beers in my college years -- almost tempted to get on a soap box about the current state of beers here in the United States -- Anheuser-Busch now owned by a Belgium company, Coors and Miller merging with the combined new headquarters in Chicago now -- never thought they'd leave St. Louis and Milwaukee respectively, ... ::::::shaking my head::::::).

I've said my favorite beer is a Czech import; Pilsner Urquell. A beer from the old country, as they say. I can trace part of my ancestry back to ... well, it was Bohemia when my great-grandparents left it, but I guess it's Czech now. Then again, I've got another set of great-grandparents who left what would become current day Italy too [update: just stopped to check the timeline, actually this set of my great-grandparents might have left shortly after the unification of modern day Italy]. hmm, now that I think about it, I'm not sure I ever had Italian beer.

Anyway, point being, I think I'll stick with my Pilsner.

Cubs pregame is on the radio now. With the all-star break over and the Cubs haven't won a game since then, today's almost a must win game.

Before noon, WGN radio was doing a fundraiser bit for the Neediest Kids Fund and remembering the guy who started that charity, Wally Phillips. It used to be WGN only talked about the Neediest Kids fund around the winter holidays. Now this is the second annual 7/20 day they've had to raise money for it. "People helping people" as Wally would put it. That was one of his favorite phrases.

Ah, I really don't want to get moving, but I spent way more time than I would have thought writing this. Hmm, and I didn't even get to everything I was thinking I'd write about. For a little reminder to myself, I might (or might not if I no longer have the muse) talk about the strange movie "Waking Life."

Bud is totally a part of American culture and to have that go into "fareiner" ownership must feel like a bit of "America" has been sold. No fear though, us Belgians love beer and we'll be good to Bud (even if it reminds me of that show 'Married With Children' each time I hear that name LOL).

Hmm, if you're familiar with the show Married with Children, that water fountain in the opening credits of the show, Buckingham Fountain in Chicago, is fairly close to where I live (maybe a 20 minute drive away). :)

I loved that show. The sheer level of sarcasm is just wonderful.
