Nite Mirror
Yesterday I commented to Mom how my sinuses have been pretty good this last week or so. I think I jinxed myself. My nose is pretty well plugged up as I'm typing this now.

It's a rainy, cold day. What I'd call a perfect sleeping day. If I didn't need to get downtown before noon today, I'd prob. still be in bed snuggling with my puppy.

Didn't get away from Mom till late last night. So I really wasn't expecting to see anyone in the pirate game when I logged on -- I wasn't expecting, but still half hoping H would be in the game.

The other day I finished reading Don Harlow's The Esperanto Book. I'm not sure if it was deliberate or what but the link is missing chapters 6 and 8 as well as appendix 1 & 3.

Anyway, I enjoyed his book where he explained not only how he got interested in Esperanto as a kid, but an overview of the language's history, and ... Well, I enjoyed reading it.

While I was reading this book, I was saddened to learn that the author, Don Harlow, passed away earlier this year.

From my reading of background/ancillary stuff, I learned that Mr. Harlow made a bit of a name for himself among the Esperanto people and around the same time Claude Piron, another obviously well respected person, who seemed to be a prolific writer in and about Esperanto language also passed away.

I'm not sure I'll keep the motivation to the point it will do any good, it has made me want to either translate some American writing into Esperanto or write my own stuff (neither of which I'll even pretend to have the kind of skill required). Most likely by the time I do develop the skill needed, I won't have the motivation any more.

Ah, I really don't want to get moving, but as I said above, I need to be downtown before noon and it's past 11 now.

Don Harlow

Yes, Don's death was a big loss.
If you are interested in Esperanto literature, either original or tranlated, check Don's other page: "Literaturo en la reto": http://donh.best.vwh.net/Esperanto/Literaturo/literaturo.html (perhaps you already know it).
A lot of jewels there

Re: Don Harlow

First, I'm sorry it took so long to reply. I had some computer problems and have been off-line for ... well, the entire time since you posted your comment until now.

I did see that page early on when I decided to learn Esperanto. At the time I wasn't far along enough then to understand it. Actually, while I prob. could struggle through it now, I still am very much a beginner to the language.

Dankon por via komento

Or more like a downdate... NM's computer has crapped out again. I am looking at purchasing a new one for him, but then I have to get it to him somehow. Whee!
