I'm a big fan of ... well, reading in general. However, two series of books are linked to my parents. The Destroyer series (action parody) was the only reading Dad and I commonly liked. At one time I tried collecting one of each of the 100+ books in the series, although I haven't bought a distroyer much less read the still on-going series in some time.|
The other series, well, just to entertain Mom, I kinda stumbled into reading Pratchett's Disc World series to Mom. So since I've read aloud just about the entire series to Mom of those books, well, they're kinda linked to her in my mind.
Hmm, I'm not really sure where this is going. It started out in my head far different from what I've actually wrote here.
I read a reference to Pratchett in someone's journal, thinking of that author brought to mind his going public with Alz (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1986843/posts), the Alz bit took me to memories of Dad.
Geeze, books and family all interrelated in my head. Once again, I'm just rambling with no real point or destination, and no idea where to go from here. So one completely unrelated video below and I'll end this post.
Not the Muppets!!!!
So, am I linked to a book or book series in your head? Hmmm?
You should totally make a list of the Destroyer books you have in your possession. They make a great Xmas gift!!! (that was subtle, huh??)
/em is disappointed about the lack of the traditional H was here, but now she's not and I'm depressed post.
Hmm, not sure about a book, but there is a certain double wrapped catalog that seems to arrive around each of your birthday visits ... ;)
Hmm, off the top of my head I've got #1 then a good number of the ones from #45 though #128 or so. Basically the biggest gaps in my collection are the very early books and ones in the last several years (and none of the spin off series the new Destroyer).
As for my post about your visit, I'm just trying to keep my head above figurative water right now. Missing you, and dealing with Mom and her Dr. appointments, and now the weather too, ... too moody and busy to write. Shouldn't even be up right now. :/
My mom is a Thomas Wolfe fanatic. His books will always bring her to mind.
Not watching the video, because I just know that song will get STUCK in my head! :P
I'm not that familiar with Thomas Wolfe books.
Ah, go ahead watch. Bohemian Rhapsody is a good song, and I think the Muppets have a darn good version of it. :P~
