So I'm back and playing again. It doesn't help that today's poker target is a rather poor loser and gets very visceral after he loses each pot. Ah, but it gives me practice to get a bit of a tougher skin. Oh, never mind, that guy just left while I was typing this. Ah, time to get a new target.
Moving on, that bamboo I was trying to save didn't make it. Even the branch that had shown signs of life is now dead. :/
Earlier in the week there was a bit of excitement by Mom's house. At about 8 at night I stepped out to do some late night grocery shopping for Mom. There was a lot of cars park all around Mom's part of the block, as I got closer I saw they were all police cars at least 5 parked all around Mom's house, and while none of them were flashing, the police car right in front of my car had been abandoned with the motor still running.
When I got back from shopping they were all gone. I told Mom and the next day she called a neighbor. Apparently, there was a break-in across the street from Mom's house, and the young 20 something kid who lives there walked in on them. I guess the burglars ran one way and the kid ran to the very lady's house that Mom happened to call.
So that was the most exciting thing that happened this week.
It's March and I said I'd switch back to studying tlhIngan Hol. It's funny when I first start Esperanto I had to actively learn not to say the Klingon word maj when expressing my satisfaction at something. Now that I'm switching back to Klingon, I'm having trouble not saying the Esperanto words bona or bonega instead of maj or majQa'.
I mentioned I joined chess.com and kinda like the website. Well, the honeymoon is over. Now that I'm into a game against a guy rated 2100+ (and me never having broke the average rating of 1200 back when I actively played last time). Um, I'm getting my rooks kicked (if you'll excuse that euphemism).
I don't mind losing if I at least I feel I can give the person a challenge. I'm not getting that feeling right now. Ah, I signed up for the free 10 day premium membership, and I will say at that level there are some good training aids to learning/improving a person's game.
Ah, if I can find some people closer to my skill level to play against there, I might stick with it, but right now I'm leaning toward leaving the site when that 10 premium membership trial is over, or I lose the game I'm playing -- whichever comes last.
I guess that's all for now.
