"The ultimate organizer" <-- that was the subject line of some spam I received a few days ago. I deleted it without opening it because everyone alive already has "the ultimate organizer," their brain.|
So besides clogging up my email, that spam also was the inspiration for this journal entry. Given my track record, I may not be the best person to be writing about organization. I am far behind on most of the goals I have set for myself, and what am I doing? Writing this.
Well, perhaps, I am organizing my thoughts, rather than using the writing of this as a time waster (or not). Part of the problem most people have is looking for external solutions to internal problems, myself included. We are looking for the gadget that is the ultimate ... whatever.
I have been one of the laziest people you'll ever know, but with a little effort and thought, I firmly believe most problems can be fixed (or at least lessened) by changing one's attitude and actions.
I have heard argument about which follows which. "Where the mind goes the body will follow." Or is it the other way around? "If you can change your actions you can change your whole thought process." Actually the quote I have to answer those quotes is "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."
Yes, the two are related and inner-connected. But which comes first is the whole chicken and egg problem. Some people have better luck changing one than the other. So that is their answer. Personally, I have found that working on one and not the other doesn't work for me. For me, I need to work on the way I view things at the same time that I make the changes in my actions.
Hmm, having said that, I guess it's time I stopped writing and started taking more actions.
